Arbor Heights Cooperative Preschool offers an environment where parents and kids learn and play together.
Why Co-op Preschool?
Picking out a preschool for your child can feel akin to searching for a college. It's an important decision for parents and kids alike. Arbor Heights Co-op Preschool has graduated thoughtful, compassionate, inquisitive and confident students. Kindergarten teachers consistently recognize a readiness to succeed and an enthusiasm for learning in co-op kids. While the cooperative program has maintained a curriculum that responds to new research in child development and education it is still a preschool where kids learn by doing the things they love to do: explore, play, dance, sing, read, problem solve, learn social skills, make choices and make friends. ABC’s, 1-2-3’s—literacy, math, and science—are woven into play encouraging kids to approach learning with enthusiasm. Simultaneously, teachers and parents help children through their emotional development. The fun and learning starts in our 2's classes through Pre-K.
Because we are a non-profit organization run by parents we are able to keep our tuition low. You may have heard rumors that co-op is “work” but each parent gets to choose the responsibilities and work load that best fits their lifestyle. You can make playdough or run a fundraiser. It's entirely up to you. Because parents run Arbor Heights Co-op, they have a voice and a direct impact on the kind of school their child attends and get to enjoy seeing their preschoolers develop a love for learning. Also valuable to parents, are the deep bonds that grow between each other and their families. Many Arbor Heights co-op parents have developed a strong support network of lifelong friends.
Co-op parents love taking advantage of the South Seattle Community College's educational component. Not only is there a parent educator for each class - someone to share the joys and challenges of raising children with - but SSCC offers talks like: No More Diapers, Using Logical Consequences, Parenting in the Media Age, Kitchen Science, Math In The Back Yard, No More No’s, Solving Dinnertime Meltdowns. Many parents claim these talks as their favorite part of co-op preschool!
Arbor Heights Cooperative Preschool has current openings and will begin registration in the Spring for next year. Please contact us if you'd like more information or if you'd like to see our amazing teachers in action.
